Francesc Verdugo is an Assistant Professor in the Theoretical Computer Science group at VU Amsterdam. His research focuses on algorithms and software for high-performance scientific computing, with a particular emphasis on the parallelization of numerical schemes found in finite element methods and sparse linear algebra.
He started the open-source scientific software projects Gridap.jl, PartitionedArrays.jl, and GalerkinToolkit.jl, aiming to make efficient computation accessible to the wider scientific community.
F. Verdugo obtained his PhD degree at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and has been a postdoc at TU Munich and CIMNE before joining VU Amsterdam.
