Personal information

Eve Ernst is a PhD Candidate in Behavioral Law and Economics in the department of Private Law of the Faculty of Law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She is conducting her research under the supervision of Arjen van Witteloostuijn and Wolf Sauter. She is also integrated with the Ethics, Governance, and Society department within the School of Business and Economics, and the Amsterdam Behavioral Economics and Law Lab.

After a Bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Strasbourg and a Master's degree in Environmental Economics at the University of Paris Saclay, she joined the VU Amsterdam in September 2022.

Research

Her PhD project uses empirical legal methods to examine the impact of the EU’s non-financial reporting regime on corporate behavior.

Her research examines the effects of legal norms on corporate sustainable behavior, with a particular focus on the real effects of the EU’s sustainable reporting mandate (NFRD/CSRD) on Corporate Social Responsibility. Her PhD project employs empirical legal methods, combining econometric analysis, Natural Language Processing, and qualitative methods to evaluate how the EU’s non-financial and sustainability reporting regime influences corporate behavior.
