Erik Ansink is Associate professor at the Department of Spatial Economics, research fellow at the Tinbergen Institute, faculty member of Amsterdam University College, and editor-in-chief of Journal of Water Economics. He obtained his PhD in environmental economics at Wageningen University (2009) on the topic of "Game-theoretic models of water allocation in transboundary river basins"

His research is on cooperation and conflict in the management and conservation of water, nature and climate. He uses a variety of research methods including tools and models from game theory, political economy, and experimental economics.
Teaching
He teaches in several programs at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Amsterdam University College including the BSc programme "Aarde, Economie en Duurzaamheid" and the MSc program "Spatial and Applied Economics".
