Personal information

Emmeline Roeloffs is a researcher within the Department of Organization Sciences at the Free University of Amsterdam (VU). She is active in the field as action-researcher, with experience working for the Safety Region of South-Limurg and the Netherlands Red Cross.

She has also participated in the Horizon 2020 Project LINKS and is now active in the research project SYNERGIES. She is also a PhD student, focused on the topic of CBDRM (community based disaster risk management) in the various phases of the disaster management cycle.

Research

Her research interests are that of Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM); how civilians can be involved in disaster management throughout the various phases of the disaster management cycle (preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation). She is currently working on a paper centered around the preparedness phase, more specifically, citizen preparedness in a community at risk of chemical incidents and what factors can contribute to a more prepared community.
