Research

Research Interest

My research agenda focuses on comparative politics, political behaviourpolitical economy and political methodology.

My current substantive research focuses on European politics, comparative political economy of crisis and macro-policy, party & electoral politics and political mobilisation. Methodologically, my current research agenda revolves around Bayesian and nonparametric statistics, measurementtime series analysis, machine learning & AI. I am also interested in combining the aforementioned methods with other causal inference and computational techniques.

My publications, working papers and work in progress can be found on my personal website

Teaching

I currently teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in comparative politics and research methods at VU. Beyond the university, I also teach advanced methods courses at the ECPR Methods School, where I received the Cora Maas Award.

I would be interested in supervising students who work on comparative politics, political behaviour and political economy (broadly defined) using quantitative/experimental methods. Area focus could be advanced industrial democracies, the European Union and authoritarian regimes. Cross-regime comparative investigation and purely methodological work are also welcome.
