Visiting Fellow, Faculty of Science, Water and Climate Risk

Personal information

Dr Charles Wamucii is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Water and Climate Risk department of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) of VU Amsterdam. He is a specialist in coupled human-environmental systems modelling – focusing on water-people-environmental interactions, serious gaming and stakeholder mapping.

Before starting his PhD studies, he was working as a consultant researcher, specialising in natural resources management, land use management, water use and allocation, human-water modelling, and climate change-related projects. He joined Wageningen University of Research to start his PhD studies in 2020. His PhD work involved; hydrological modelling (single discipline), socio-hydrological modelling (interdisciplinary), and developing and testing of serious games for water management (transdisciplinary).

He is currently involved in ICISK project, that aims to develop Climate Services (CS) products that follow a social and behaviourally informed approach. His research work focusses on application of system dynamics modelling to increase an understanding on human-climate change interactions and evaluating the value and challenges of climate services (CS) products.

Expertise

Socio-hydrological modelling, hydrological modelling, water use/allocation, serious gaming and simulations, inter-transdisciplinary approaches, stakeholders mapping methods (Q method, fuzzy cognitive mapping).
