Benedetta Sestito is a PhD Candidate in the Water and Climate Risk group (WCR) at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM). Her background is in Physics (BSc) and Physics of the Earth System (MSc). During her studies Benedetta focused on atmosphere, ocean and climate physics and collaborated with the National Council of Research – Institute of Atmosphere and Climate Science (CNR-ISAC) in Bologna, Italy, for her Master thesis on climate dynamics and modelling.
Her research interests concern climate extremes and their impacts on society, during her PhD she will unravel vulnerability dynamics to climate change driven hazards across Europe, contributing to the EC funded project CLIMAAX.
Before joining the IVM, Benedetta has worked as an Atmospheric Perils Research Analyst in re-insurance for Allianz SE in Rome, Italy.
