Beanka Meddeler-Polman is a general developmental psychologist. From 2000 to 2021 she worked at Ambiq, a remedial educational centre for people with mild intellectual disabilities. Recently (from 2022) she started to work at the Twentse Zorgcentra, a centre providing of care and services to people with intellectual disabilities.
Since 2005 she assesses many children and adolescents, and often
finds problematic attachment as the explanation for the problem
behaviour. She gives guest lectures on these issues and is often
consulted in situations where attachment problems are suspected. In april 2022 she started as PhD student at the VU Amsterdam.

Research
Her PhD study focusses on trust relations and epistemic trust in the care of people with intellectual disabilities with and without visual impairements. The study is a cooperation between the academic lab ‘Affect-Us’ and De Twentse Zorgcentra. The PhD trajectory is supervised by prof. dr. Paula Sterkenburg and dr. Agnes Willemen.
