prof. dr. Annelies Pool-Goudzwaard

Personal information

After finishing her Physiotherapy study in the Hague Annelies started to work in primary care setting in Zoetermeer in 1987. In the following years she finished her Manual Therapy education in Utrecht and started her Health Psychology Master. Meanwhile she enrolled in a reserach programme at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam at the faculty of biomedical physics and technology. Main focus was the pelvis and pelvic girdle pain. After finishing her Psychology Master she started her PhD at the same department combining anatomical biomechanical experimental studies in vitro with patient centered and cohort studies. In 2003 she finished her PhD and worked for the same department at the Erasmus University combining this work with her work at the Spine & Joint Centre in Rotterdam, a tertiary care clinic for women with pelvic girdle pain. Later she worked as a director of the research programme Cobra at the Somt UNiversity in Amersfoort. 

In 2015 she started working for the VU University , Faculty of behaviour and momevent Sciences. She is part of teh staff of the Master educational programme on Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Furthermore she works as the head of the Bachelor of Science at Somt University of Physiotherapy. 

She has numerous publications in scientific journals with the main focus on the pelvic, pelvic girdle pain, low back pain and pelvic floor dysfunctions. She has been a keynote speaker at multiple international congressess and a lecturer at several  international universities.
