Anne-Sophie is a PhD Candidate at two departments of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM): the Water and Climate Risk and the Environmental Policy Analysis departments. Her research focuses on droughts risks for ecosystems and the cascading risks for land-dependent communities. Using a variety of methods, she investigates, for instance, what increases ecosystem vulnerability and resilience in face of droughts events.
Previously, Anne-Sophie worked in the World Drought Atlas project, commissioned by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). Prior to starting her PhD trajectory, she worked as a research assistant at the United Nations University.
Anne-Sophie has a dual background in both the social and natural sciences, after completing a master’s degree in Earth Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences at Freie Universität Berlin.
