Anandi is a PhD researcher at the department of Environmental Geography of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM). During her masters at Wageningen University, Anandi specialised in studying human-environment systems. For her thesis she worked on understanding the effects of forest-cover change on ecosystem services in the Nilgiri Biosphere, India. In the past, Anandi been involved with environmental NGOs and research organizations including the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment and the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation.
Anandi’s PhD research is a part of the NaturaConnect project which supports the design and implementation of a Trans-European Nature Network. Her work involves the use of dynamic land system change models to understand possible land-use outcomes and their impacts in different scenarios. Specifically she works on evaluating how changes in European land-use will affect ecosystem services, and how these insights can be used to build resilience and improve infrastructure for biodiversity.
