Karya Odabasi is interested in the study of perfectionism in professional environments from an anthropological perspective. She has an affinity with stage performing arts and professional groups with high-body involvement in their work.
She also focuses on the subject of embodiment as a way of understanding culture as something lived, felt, and experienced through the body and senses. Especially she is interested in how our physical being is deeply intertwined with norms, values, power dynamics, identities, emotions, and interactions in certain professional groups.
Currently, Karya is working on bringing embodied methods inspired by Social Presencing Theatre to higher education for teaching and learning.
Karya holds two BScs: International Relations and Business Administration from Koc University Istanbul and an MSc in Culture, Organization, and Management. She has teaching duties in several courses mostly on organizational culture and related themes. As the representative of the Organization Sciences Department of the FSS Blended Learning team, she has in depth knowledge of educational innovations and is the founder of one fully-funded project herself.
