Alexandra Greene (she/her) is a PhD candidate as part of the NWO Vici project "Engaged scholarship and narratives of change in comparative perspective" led by prof. dr. Halleh Ghorashi. Her research explores the practise of solidarity in the context of the migrant justice movement in California.
Prior to starting her PhD, Alexandra completed an MA in Gender Studies at Utrecht University, Netherlands. Her thesis is titled Place, time, and smartphones: refugee women affectively “making do” - A feminist research project exploring the situated and contested experiences of refugee women waiting in Greece.
She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Communication Studies from Concordia University, Canada and a BA (Honours) in English Literature and Philosophy from Queen's University, Canada.
Alexandra co-teaches the Bachelor course Identity, Diversity and Inclusion.
She also designs and organizes the VU Graduate Winter School course Research-creation: merging the critical and the creative and the VU Summer School course Research-creation: critique, care and collaboration through creative practice.
