Research on Mentalizing in a Virtual World

Mentalizing is important for truly understanding one another. This means reflecting on your own thoughts and feelings as well as those of others. However, understanding each other is not always easy.

In this study, a virtual reality (VR) group session was developed for future caregivers of individuals with a (visual and) intellectual disability. The VR program allows (future) healthcare professionals to experience the impact of a mentalizing attitude on a client’s mood and behavior. This intervention is currently being further developed.

This project is a collaboration with Affect-us.
