Education is among the most heatedly debated subjects of our time, and disagreements often prove intractable.
One reason for this is that such disagreements often stem from differences in people’s basic assumptions about what education actually is, what it should aim at and what it is for. Philosophy of education deals exactly with such fundamental questions. By analyzing them systematically, it can help clear up confusion and shed light on possible ways forward.
