"Automatic recognition of positive versus negative emotions of students using a Garmin wearable and the BioRICS Mindstretch algorithm" by Denise van der Mee and colleagues

This project aims to further develop the BioRICS algorithm for distinguishing between positive and negative affect, a breakthrough that could have significant societal and economic implications. By enhancing the ability to measure and understand emotional states, the algorithm could be applied in diverse settings, from improving mental health diagnostics and workplace well-being to optimizing human performance in high-stress environments.

Denise van der Mee works as a postdoc in the Clinical Developmental Psychology section. This project is highly interdisciplinary, as Clinical Developmental Psychology, Biological Psychology, the VU Ambulatory monitoring system NV (spin-off company from VU) and the BioRICS NV (spin-off company from KU Leuven) will join forces to advance our insights into the physiological markers of emotions.
