Endure uncertainty, keep the mind open and continue to wonder

7 October 2017 'Suddenly it overwhelms you: how the sun, at such a huge distance from the earth, can warm your skin, just right, as if you were being caressed by it.'

Anders Schinkel is associate professor of Theoretical Pedagogy at VU Amtsterdam. Anders received a grant of over € 800.000 from the John Templeton Foundation for a three-year research project on the importance of wonder in education.

On 7 October 2017, he wrote the concluding essay of his series of guest columns on wonder in everyday life for the Friesch Dagblad.
