How to become a PhD candidate at VU Amsterdam.

Admission requirements

In order to obtain a PhD at VU Amsterdam, you must meet a number of admission requirements. These are listed in the Doctorate Regulations, Title 02, Article 7.

PhD candidate at VU Amsterdam

The PhD candidate is usually a member of the academic staff at VU Amsterdam. He or she receives an appointment for a fixed period of time, with the aim of obtaining a doctoral degree. The PhD candidate conducts research, follows courses and also teaches. In some cases (external PhD students) it is possible to obtain a PhD without employment at the VU.
