This research is part of the Co-Creation for Inclusive Knowledges Lab
In a series of co-creative sessions, we bring together intermediaries such as active residents, key figures, community workers, civil servants, and researchers to collaborate on a concrete case. Through action research, we analyze whether and how these intermediaries succeed in establishing new ‘chains of trust’ in democratic collaboration practices between different involved parties who have so far experienced much distance and distrust, but who are necessary to solve persistent problems in the city, such as poverty, inequality of opportunities in education, and the energy transition. Based on these analyses, we develop a city-wide applicable learning trajectory on pluralistic collaboration in intermediary spaces, enabling active residents, frontline professionals, and civil servants/policymakers acting as intermediaries to strengthen their democratic action and craftsmanship. In this project, we collaborate with E-Co/Samen Vooruit, Vrijwilligersacademie Amsterdam, Onderzoeksbureau Amsterdam Meetellen, University of Amsterdam, Hogeschool van Amsterdam and the Municipality of Amsterdam.
