Graduate Ventures was founded by leading Dutch entrepreneurs and has invested in more than 80 start-ups and scale-ups since 2021. In addition to funding, entrepreneurs gain access to the network and experience of more than 200 alumni entrepreneurs. Through this collaboration, the Amsterdam knowledge institutions aim to contribute to a vibrant ecosystem in which promising ideas from research and education can grow into ventures with societal impact.
“VU Amsterdam wants not only to develop knowledge, but also to ensure that it contributes to people and society. That is why we believe it is important that ideas from research and education have the opportunity to grow into ventures with societal impact,” says Margrethe Jonkman, President of the Executive Board of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. “Especially in those early stages, guidance, experience and access to the right network are essential. Graduate Ventures brings that expertise and is therefore well aligned with our ambition to further strengthen valorisation and entrepreneurship from within the university.”
About Graduate Ventures
Graduate Ventures invests in start-ups and scale-ups founded by entrepreneurs with links to universities. The collaboration enables students, researchers and alumni to give their venture a flying start or to grow further with guidance from experienced entrepreneurs.
In addition to a professional investment team, Graduate Ventures works with student teams that identify and present promising ideas within the academic community. This gives young entrepreneurs access not only to capital, but also to practical guidance, entrepreneurial experience and a broad network.
