Good news for English-speaking VU staff: if there is sufficient interest, the training course 'Vitaal werken en de overgang' will also be offered in English (Working Vitally and the Menopause).
By offering the training in English as well, even more staff members will have the opportunity to learn about menopause and its impact on health, wellbeing and functioning at work.
From knowledge to greater understanding
Menopause is a natural stage of life, but its impact on work and wellbeing is still often underestimated. An estimated 80% of women going through menopause experience symptoms such as palpitations, migraines, joint pain and difficulty concentrating. Yet these symptoms are not always discussed in the workplace. Feelings of embarrassment and a lack of knowledge can make it difficult to talk about them.
The 'Working Vitally and the Menopause' training aims to increase knowledge and awareness. In this interactive session, you will learn more about how hormones affect your body, energy levels and ability to function. Topics such as nutrition, lifestyle, stress and relaxation will also be covered. The training offers practical tools and tips to help you maintain your vitality, both at work and at home.
For everyone
The training is for anyone who wants to contribute to a workplace where menopause can be discussed openly. Whether you are going through menopause yourself, want to support a colleague, or are a manager: everyone is welcome, women and men alike.
With the English-language version, VU also aims to actively involve international staff in this important topic and make the training accessible to an even wider audience.
Interested in the English-language training?
If there is sufficient interest, an English-language session (1.5 hours) will be organised. Let us know you are interested by sending an email to VU L&D with the subject line 'Working Vitally and the Menopause'.
