Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, together with a software partner, is developing a new tool for lecturers: the Grade Composer. This functionality allows for user-friendly grading within Canvas, based on assignments and corresponding partial grades. The final grade is calculated automatically.
The Grade Composer also offers advantages for students: they will eventually have easy access to the course's grade structure and their own results via Canvas.
In the next development phase, VU Amsterdam is working on a link between the Grade Composer and SAP, allowing examiners to directly post final grades. This functionality will eventually replace the current VRR system.
Start Pilot: join us!
The first version of the Grade Composer will launch in mid-April. For this pilot, VU Amsterdam is looking for lecturers who would like to try out the application. This can be done in a completed course this year or in an ongoing course in period 4 or 5. The Grade Composer is used exclusively for calculating final grades and has no effect on existing assignments or grades within Canvas.
Instructors who wish to participate can register with project leader Nicole Prins (n.prins@vu.nl). During the pilot, feedback will be actively collected to improve the application.
