On Wednesday 14 October, regional public transport services across the Netherlands will be affected by a nationwide strike. The strike will last all day. Local public transport services in Amsterdam will continue to operate, but if you travel to VU Amsterdam from outside the city by bus or other regional public transport, your journey may be disrupted.
Teaching and exams will go ahead
Teaching activities will, in principle, go ahead as scheduled on Wednesday 14 October. This also applies to classes where attendance is compulsory. Students are advised to allow extra time for their journey and, where possible, arrange alternative transport. Lecturers may make alternative arrangements if the strike affects their teaching. Please keep a close eye on Canvas for any changes. Exams and tests will also, in principle, go ahead as scheduled. If the strike makes it necessary and possible to make alternative arrangements, the students concerned will be informed via Canvas.
Staff
If you are expected to be on campus on Wednesday and rely on regional public transport for your journey, please take the strike into account and check alternative travel options in good time. If necessary, discuss the situation with your manager.
The VU campus will remain open as usual on Wednesday, and other activities will also go ahead as scheduled unless the organiser communicates otherwise. Before travelling, always check the latest travel information provided by the relevant transport operator.
