People should be at the center of the response to the crisis. That is the argument made by Karen van Oudenhoven-van der Zee and Kees Boersma in their essay “Put people at the center of the response to the crisis.”
The essay shows that the involvement of individuals and communities is of great value during a crisis, but that people experience and respond to crises differently.
The authors examine how the government can better collaborate with citizens and what is needed to design resilience policy in such a way that everyone is able and willing to contribute to a resilient society.
