Personal connections drive progress towards a healthier and more sustainable food environment at VU

Last week, Meike Morren and the Dream Team Food Choices presented the results of their work on the VU campus food environment and handed over a comprehensive report to stakeholders. President of the Executive Board Margrethe Jonkman attended the presentation, marking a fitting conclusion to this phase of the project.

The event brought together stakeholders from across the university and sparked valuable discussions about opportunities to create a healthier and more sustainable food environment on campus. For the team, these conversations reinforced an important lesson: making an impact requires more than good ideas and data. Personal contact and collaboration are essential for turning ambitions into action.

Supported by Demonstrator Lab Amsterdam, the Dream Team has spent the past months exploring how food choices on campus can better support health and sustainability goals. The final report provides insights and recommendations that can help guide future initiatives.

Looking ahead, the team hopes to continue working closely with stakeholders across VU to build on the momentum created by the project and contribute to a healthier and more sustainable campus for students and staff.
