We were privileged to hear directly from our experts who were present in Belém, Brazil, bringing personal stories and first-hand analysis to Amsterdam.
A huge thank you to our speakers: Daniel Muth from IVM Institute for Environmental Studies for sharing his immediate, critical reflections on the conference outcomes. Stephanie O. and Cléo Dorel-Watson-watson of Jonge Klimaatbeweging for their crucial perspective on youth engagement and for showing us their impactful “Storybook COP30”. Truly inspiring work. Lastly, Philipp Pattberg of Amsterdam Sustainability Institute - VU Amsterdam for guiding the evening and Q&A.
The key takeaway from our "experts on the ground" was a sense of ambivalence. The discussion highlighted the tension between the urgent need for faster action versus the nuanced progress actually achieved.
Thank you to everyone who joined the session and stayed for the drinks afterwards. The energy in the room gives us hope for the work ahead!
SDG Academy COP30 Debrief

Just before Christmas, we welcomed a full house at the Green Office VU. It was amazing to see a packed room of engaged individuals ready to hear the complex outcomes and negotiations of this year’s conference.
