Beware! Phishing messages are circulating through VU accounts (free stuff scam, OneDrive link with login + MFA, fake ads, etc.).
Do not respond to the mail or click on links in the mail! Flag these suspicious messages with the Report Phishing button in Outlook.
Reporting phishing also automatically and securely removes the email from your inbox.
For questions, contact the IT Service Desk.
How to recognize phishing
Doubt the message
Take a moment to think about the email. Are you expecting it? Does the content match the sender? Is the e-mail address correct? Are you in doubt? Check it first.
Check the sender
It seems like a reliable sender, but the e-mail address just isn't right. Watch for small errors in the name, strange domains and free mail addresses.
View content critically
Watch for signals such as a request for login credentials or personal information, links to unfamiliar websites and requests to check or update data. Check links without clicking, such as through checkjelinkje.nl.
Recognize pressure and hurry
Phishing emails put pressure on you. Think threats to block your account, warnings of fines or urgent requests. Do you sense pressure? Back off and check the message.
What to do
Don't click on suspicious links. Never share your password or verification codes. Don't transfer money via e-mail. Report suspicious messages to the IT service desk.
