What work is taking place in the Main Building and why?
- The current public address system is in need of an update. Therefore, parts of the public address system are being replaced.
- The insulators of around 800 speakers attached to the ceiling and wall will be removed and the insulators of around 1,300 speakers will be replaced.
What will you notice about the work?
- For this work, we will visit a number of places in the HG twice at different times in the schedule. Some of the speakers hang in public areas where we can freely access them without (much) inconvenience. Others hang in offices or meeting rooms above desks or in lecture halls at great heights, for example.
- The noticeable work involves removing or replacing components of the speakers of the public address system. For this purpose, ceilings are usually opened temporarily. Ceilings are closed again after the work. Not all speakers are adjusted at the same time; if there are several speakers in the room, work is carried out a second time.
- In some places, the public address system will be temporarily inoperative during the work. Replacement facilities will be provided and/or a supervisor deployed for this purpose.
When will the work take place?
- Week 22 (Mon 26 - Fri 30 May). Start project with removal of all insulators, starting with the 15th floor. Thereafter, work will gradually continue down each floor.
- Week 30 (Mon 21 - Fri 25 July). Removal of the last insulators in the basement.
- Week 31 (Mon 26 July - Fri 1 Aug). Start replacing insulators on the 15th floor. Thereafter, work will gradually continue down each floor.
- Week 42 (Mon 13 - Fri 17 Oct). Completion of all visible work.
