Three VU students reached the national final of the ECHO Awards on 10 December, the annual prize by the ECHO Foundation for students from non-Western communities in higher education who make a difference on pressing social issues.
The awards went to other students this year, but Chief Education Officer Jacqueline van Muijlwijk feels very proud of the VU finalists: “Soumeya, Rashmi and Endo beautifully demonstrate what we strive for at VU Amsterdam: education in which different perspectives and stories are naturally given space. In a society that is still far from always being inclusive, it is precisely their experiences and voices that make a difference. We warmly congratulate these three students. The fact that they have reached the national finals of the ECHO Awards shows how much impact they are already having. Fantastic!”
