"This result is a wonderful recognition of the hard work and dedication of our lecturers. At the same time, it serves as a motivation to continue growing together, because growth is not something you achieve alone, but with each other. Proud of our team!" said Rector Magnificus Jeroen Geurts.
The ‘Keuzegids’ evaluates programmes based on student satisfaction, the quality of education, and career prospects after completing the master's programme. Additionally, student reviews and the overall atmosphere during the programme are also taken into account. Programmes that receive ‘two plus marks’ are considered among the best in their field.
This year, VU Amsterdam has eight newcomers on the list, including three research master's programmes: Cognitive Neuropsychology, Genes in Behaviour and Health, and Personalized Medicine. Other new entries are Biomedical Technology and Physics, International Business Law, International Crimes, Conflict and Criminology, and Social and Cultural Anthropology.
One of the top performers is the master's programme in Epidemiology from the Faculty of Medicine, which scores excellently in all assessed areas – Content, Teaching Staff, Assessment, Career Preparation, and Atmosphere. Additionally, the master's programmes in Corporate Law and Marketing are ranked among the best in their respective fields, excelling in Content, Teaching Staff, Atmosphere, and Career Preparation. The master's programmes Ecology and Evolution and Philosophy also receive top marks for Content, Teaching Staff, and Assessment.
The ‘Keuzegids Masters’ compares all accredited master's programmes at Dutch universities each year. The evaluations in the guide are based on student opinions, using information from the National Student Survey and the National Alumni Survey. These assessments help bachelor's students make an informed choice when selecting their master's programme.
