As part of the Robotics lecture, students and faculty visited the Amsterdam robotics startup Monumental ( https://www.monumental.co/ ) to learn about real-world robotics applications. During the visit, Monumental presented its processes and robotic platforms for automating the construction of buildings.
This visit was organised as part of the Robotics lecture by Dr Kevin Sebastian Luck and Dr Kim Baraka in the minor "Situated AI" of the AI Bachelor's program. The visit to Monumental complemented the lecture's focus on Robotics fundamentals and Robot Learning techniques with a look behind the curtains of a robotics startup utilising the taught techniques and software engineering to build the next generation of autonomous construction robots.
The Robotics course ( https://research.vu.nl/en/courses/robotics-2/ ) is offered every year in September/October in the academic period 1 as part of the AI-Minor "Situated AI".
