Maryam Alimardani receives grant in the Open Competition SSH XS for her project: NeuroPAL: a social game for post-stroke neuro-rehabilitation

NeuroPAL: a social game for post-stroke neuro-rehabilitation

Dr. Ing. M. Alimardani (V), VU Amsterdam

Most stroke survivors struggle with disabilities that result in isolation and an inactive lifestyle. While current neuro-rehabilitation programs offer hope for recovery, such a journey can be challenging and lonely. To improve patients’ motivation and the effectiveness of these neuro-rehabilitation programs, this project will create a social game that engages patients in a collaborative task with their caregiver (often a family member). The project outcomes promise improved patient-caregiver relationships, faster motor recovery, and an overall increase in quality of life for stroke patients.
