For data that cannot be made available publicly, NeRDS has created templates to set up a custom licence.
One of the new requirements for datasets in the updated Research Data and Software Management Policy is that researchers have to assign a licence to their dataset. The new manual on the Yoda Poral provides an overview of the licences that can be selected.
For data that can be made available publicly, Yoda offers standard licences that you can select when you are archiving or publishing your data, for example Creative Commons licences. In addition to that, the manual explains how you can include access restrictions for reuse in “Restricted” and “Closed” VU licences (for data that cannot be made available publicly) and how you can add those to your dataset.
More detailed information about assigning licences to research data is available in the Research Support Handbook. Another page is available that describes licensing research software.
For questions about data and software licences you can contact the RDM Support Desk.
