13 May 2025
Assistant professor Geert Schenk was originally a molecular biologist and brain researcher and has long worked in that role. When he ended up in the department of anatomy and neuroscience at Amsterdam UMC, he was also introduced to education and teaching.

Through anatomy labs and occasional lecturing, he became increasingly involved in it. And now, as a true teacher at heart, he received the Teacher Talent Award at this year’s VU Education Day.

What makes teaching so special? Schenk tells his story.
