Inaugural lecture: “Statistics: making the invisible visible” of professor Frank van der Meulen published.

Data plays a major role in our daily lives and research. In newspapers you often see data visualisations, but it is not always clear what conclusions can be drawn from them. Mathematical statistics helps to do this carefully. In his inaugural lecture, professor of mathematical statistics Frank van der Meulen explained how this works.

The inaugural lecture, delivered on 24-january 2025, has recently been published in the Nieuw Archief voor Wiskunde. It is freely available (in Dutch) here (link: https://fmeulen.github.io/vandermeulen.pdf)
