The ‘Keuzegids’ is a Dutch independent consumer guide and is released annually. The ‘Keuzegids’ compares all accredited bachelor’s programmes at Dutch universities. Programmes that are rated above average in terms of content, lecturers, assessment, career preparation and overall atmosphere receive the ‘Top Programme’ designation. This year, the title has been awarded to the bachelor’s programmes in Earth Sciences, Medicine, Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE), and Literature & Society. As a result, VU retains three ‘Top Programmes’ from the 2025 Keuzegids, with Literature & Society joining the list as a newcomer.
Twelfth title
The bachelor’s programme in Earth Sciences has been named a ‘Top Programme’ for the twelfth time. VU Amsterdam has announced that the programme, which had previously been threatened by high costs and low enrolment, will continue in an adapted form. Collaboration with field partners will be a key component. Additionally, aligning the programme with the theme ‘Climate and Earth in the Age of Human Influence’ has become a guiding principle in its redesign. This will improve the programme’s connection to the expertise needed in professional practice, thereby further strengthening students’ career prospects.
Keuzegids
The Keuzegids Universities 2026 is compiled by an independent editorial team. The evaluations in the guide are based, among other things, on accreditation data from the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO), as well as results from the National Student Survey and the Study Choice Database. These evaluations help prospective students make a well-informed choice for their bachelor’s programme.
More information about the individual bachelor’s programmes from the 2026 Keuzegids Universiteiten can be found on the website of the relevant faculty, and more information about the Keuzegids here.
