Mara Voss, a former Bachelor and Master student at our Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, focused on urban marginality, informal economies, and social justice during her studies. These themes have deeply shaped her current work. Mara is now a co-founder of the Amsterdam Can Collective, an organization that supports and people who collect cans in the city, many of whom are homeless or 'rough sleepers'.
Last Saturday, Mara and two can collectors were featured in an interview in Het Parool, and this evening they will be interviewed on the national radio program Met het oog op morgen. We’re also happy to invite you to an upcoming lecture by Mara and her co-founder and fellow collector Reginald Stefan Houndjago on the 17th of April at the VU.
