What if students could shape their own education?

Aäron Spapens, a VU Amsterdam Medicine alumnus, identified a common issue: many young doctors doubted their abilities in basic tasks like taking blood samples. Instead of accepting this, he immediately emailed the Faculty of Medicine, stating: “The programme lacks a strong focus on practical skills.”

An email that led to the creation of SpringLab VU, where students develop and teach classes with experts. Within two years, SpringLab grew from 3 to 84 employees and attracted nearly seventy percent of bachelor students to the courses.
