What are we working on together this year to further improve our education?

14 May 2024
Isabella van Ophem, Education Programme Manager: “We want to prepare our students well for the challenges of a constantly changing world, which requires more focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and dealing with AI in our education. The plans of this new edition of the education agenda are important for education that is ready for the future.”

The VU Education Agenda 2024 focuses on targeted improvements in education at VU Amsterdam. The VU education vision and the challenges that come from outside are the basis for this.

The main priorities for this year at a glance:

  • A Broader Mind for Students: evaluation and update of the A Broader Mind vision in our education.
  • Portfolio analyses within faculties: conducting analyses around the portfolio of programmes within a faculty and the actions that result from it, such as cross-over tracks between disciplines, to better prepare students for the wicked problems of the future.
  • Completion of ongoing (educational support) projects: in alignment with the results of the midterm review of the Institutional Quality Assurance Test, we complete ongoing projects to be well-prepared for the Institutional Quality Assurance Test, which is expected to take place at the end of 2025.
  • Law on Internationalization in Balance: preparation for and implementation of measures resulting from the expected Law on Internationalization in Balance.
  • AI Usage Policy: shaping guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence in education.
