Ten new members for Amsterdam Young Academy (AYA)

Four young academics from VU Amsterdam, three from the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and three from Amsterdam UMC have been appointed as members of the Amsterdam Young Academy (AYA): the network of young academics at VU Amsterdam, UvA and Amsterdam UMC.

AYA is a network of promising, young Amsterdam academics whose research extends beyond their own discipline. It was founded in 2018 by a number of Amsterdam-based members of De Jonge Akademie and commits to interdisciplinary research, social dialogue and research policy.

The ten new members in 2024 are:

VU Amsterdam:

  • Maarten Bolhuis, Department of Criminology (Faculty of Law)
  • Laura Dreissen, Department of Physics (Faculty of Science)
  • Giuliana Spadaro, Department of Experimental and Applied Psychology (Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences)
  • Kristina S. Weißmüller, Department of Political Science and Public Administration (Faculty of Social Sciences)

UvA:

  • Micha Heilbron, Brain and Cognition (Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences)
  • Alberto Pérez de Alba Ortíz, Van ‘t Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences and Informatics Institute (Faculty of Science)
  • Gulnaz Sibgatullina, Department of History, European Studies, and Religious Studies (Faculty of Humanities)

Amsterdam UMC:

  • Callista Mulder (Reproductive Biology)
  • Elena Rampanelli (Experimental Vascular Medicine)
  • Dirk Jan Stenvers (Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism)
