During her internship with the Biomolecular Simulation and Modeling group, part of the Molecular and Computational Toxicology department, Simin investigated CYP51 inhibition in Chagas disease, a neglected tropical illness.
Simin expressed her gratitude, stating, "I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to research this neglected disease and bring attention to it."
She credited David Poole and Daan Geerke for their guidance and support, saying, "Thanks to their support and knowledge, I have been able to achieve this. This experience has truly ignited my passion for pharmaceutical sciences."
Winning this award is a testament to Simin's hard work and dedication. Her research contributes to a better understanding of Chagas disease and underscores the importance of innovation in pharmaceutical science.
Simin shared a meaningful quote from Jules Verne's book, A Journey to the Center of the Earth: "Science, my lad, is made up of mistakes, but they are mistakes which it is useful to make, because they lead little by little to the truth."
