Price increase coffee vending machines in public area per 1 July 2024

Share
26 June 2024
The vending service for hot drinks is under financial pressure.

In order to continue offering sufficient consumption choices and to have enough vending machines available at an acceptable price to do so, we are forced to increase the price of refreshments from the vending machines in public areas from 1 July 2024. This therefore does not apply to the coffee you get from the vending machine with a VU pass.

The price increase will be € 0.09. The new prices are:

  • espresso € 0.56
  • double espresso € 0.86
  • black coffee € 0.68
  • other coffee € 0.68
  • chocolate € 0.51
  • hot water € 0.51

The price for the employee consumptions remains the same. The price for these consumptions is fixed in our contract and can only be increased based on the annual price indexation.

Background information

The turnover made by our partner Maas on vending coffee has returned to about the same level after the COVID crisis. However, we also see that for this service, costs for staff and ingredients are increasing. On top of this, we stopped using disposable cups (SUPs) after the summer of 2023. This has resulted in a negative impact of 32% on the turnover consumptions of the vending machines in public areas.
