Today, on March 14 (3.14), we celebrated Pi day
March 14 (3/14) is the International Day of Mathematics, also known as Pi Day from the first digits of the decimal expansion of the number Pi: π = 3.1415…
To celebrate this special event, we had a round of pies in the common room, of course. To optimize the space on the table for the cake, we arranged the plates in a hexagonal honeycomb, which is the highest-density way of packing circles in the plane.
