IT and Faculty of Science develop virtual student workplace

Share
18 January 2024
Over the past year, IT and the Faculty of Science have developed a virtual student workspace with applications that a student can access from their own (BYOD) device.

Over the past year, IT has been working with the Beta faculty to develop a virtual student workspace. In this virtual workplace, student applications can be made available under Windows 10/Windows 11 on the student's own (BYOD) device, without having to install them first or receive a link from the teacher.

All teachers and students of the Faculty of Science are invited to use this environment in the coming educational periods and experience its benefits. An evaluation will take place at the end of educational period 6.

What applications are currently available?
There are currently 68 applications available on the virtual student workplace. These can be used in the coming period by BETA teachers and students in education to test whether they (functionally) meet expectations. Possibly omissions can be reported by teachers and students via the IT Service Desk (020 59 80000 or servicedesk.it@vu.nl)

Requests for new applications (versions) on this environment can be made via ServiceNow using one of the forms below:

More information about the virtual student workplace or the manuals on how to access these applications on the different device types can be found in the QRCs on the Collaboration Services Knowledge Portal.
