Black Achievement Month
The Black Achievement Month is held annually in October. The festival aims to spotlight individuals with African roots. The culmination took place yesterday with the awarding of honors in four different categories.
Anton de Kom Chair
Jones's chair explicitly focuses on the historical processing of the legacy of slavery and its contemporary effects on social and cultural relations, legal frameworks, and transnational communities. He is currently working on the project "Legal History of Slavery," which involves analyzing judicial rulings by around 15 authors on various aspects of slavery under Dutch rule. Additionally, he is involved in the research project "The House of Orange-Nassau and Colonial History."
Guno Jones dedicated the award to all those who, outside the spotlight and without embellishment, are of immense significance for knowledge creation, for their fellow human beings, and for society, yet never receive recognition or appreciation for it.
