Sustainable
The Research & Diagnostics Centre ADORE is the first building at Amsterdam UMC to have heat and cold storage (WKO). This sustainable method stores energy in the form of heat or cold in the ground and is used to heat and/or cool the building. The basement contains a transport lane and special rooms for pathological research.
In addition, the roof will be used as a water buffer to collect rainwater after a heavy shower and gradually drain it into the sewer system to prevent sewers from overflowing. Also, the roof will be full of solar panels and the windows will be low-carbon glass.
ADORE concept
The ADORE Research & Diagnostics Centre will be the new workplace for researchers and scientists affiliated with the ADORE concept. This initiative aims to join forces between the research disciplines of oncology and neuroscience to develop new insights and treatments against cancer and brain diseases such as Alzheimer's and MS.
