During four intensive days, twenty-six participants followed the leading experts to explore the impact of digital, intelligent technologies on work and organizations. They engaged in intensive discussions and received feedback on their research.
The KIN Summer School is designed to help doctoral and early career researchers enhance their academic skills for conducting and publishing valuable research. Every year we invite a different group of faculty members, considered the top international scholars in the field.
This time we covered the topics of AI@work (speaker — Marleen Huysman, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, NL), Knowing and organizing with technology (speaker — Samer Faraj, McGill University, Canada), Smart Health (speaker — Eivor Oborn, University of Warwick, UK), Technology and work systems, jobs and roles (speaker — Steve Barley, Stanford University, US), Data and its contexts: an ecosystem perspective of data quality (speaker — Melissa Mazmanian, University of California, US). The final day was marked by a guest visit from Youngjin Yoo (Weatherhead School of Management, US). He conducted a seminar on The Architecture of Digital Objects and Platform Ecosystems. We would like to express our gratitude to all the speakers and participants for their contributions to creating a supportive and inspiring atmosphere.
The atmosphere was elevated during our traditional boat ride through the canals of Amsterdam, which offered more than just a scenic experience. It gave participants the chance to grow their academic network and strengthen their connections with peers. We hope that these connections will open doors to future productive collaborations and professional opportunities for junior researchers.
The KIN Summer School is organized by the KIN Center for Digital Innovation of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam together with the Amsterdam Business Research Institute (ABRI).
