Bob Planqué and Maarten Droste at science fair
On May 3, Bob Planqué and Maarten Droste were at the Expeditie Next science fair in Middelburg. This event, for kids of 8 years and up, organised by NWO, took over the town for a day, with dozens of science exhibits. Bob and Maarten helped out at a virtual reality stand of the Origins Center, together with geologists, biologists, astronomisch and others, from several universities. Children could explore what it means to be alive, how to assemble simple living systems using the VR setup, and to invent their own. Bob was also invited for a public interview with the public to explain how mathematical modelling of living systems works, and to explain how mathematicians and life scientists work together to make scientific progress.
