The effects of the election result this week are cause for concern for us as a university and they affect us. A wind of exclusion is blowing. We therefore feel the need to make it abundantly clear once and for all: at VU Amsterdam, you are at home.
Regardless of your political opinions, origin, colour, age, religion, gender, identity, orientation, or whatever makes you 'you'. Everyone is welcome here. In fact, we prefer to turn it around: we prefer to actively seek out differences and bring them together. We cherish our multi-colouredness. VU Amsterdam is a close-knit community. A family. We are incredibly proud of that. Polarizing politics will not drive us apart. We stand together for a better world.
We will continue to work tirelessly for this and call on our students and colleagues to feel free and supported to continue to be in dialogue with each other and with us, the governors and management.
