The study targets students interested in both engineering and creative processes and aims to develop smart technology that contributes to a better future for society. Although most lectures are held in Amsterdam, VU Amsterdam students will regularly visit UT's campus.
On Monday, 4 September, the festive opening lecture took place. Over 50 first-year students were welcomed by professor Antske Fokkens (Computational Linguistic Methods) and a large number of lecturers, also from Twente, introduced themselves to the students.
Solving things in a different way
One of the students is Sidney van der Werd. Initially he wanted to study Technical Engineering, but during the Open Day he saw CreaTe's stand, got talking and changed his mind.
"I like the idea of solving things in a different way with other students, that you have to think creatively, that you try to come up with multiple solutions. That's what makes this study broad."
For German Jannik Boettner, the breadth of the study is also an important reason for choosing CreaTe: "Maybe I'll start my own company later, maybe I'll just get employed somewhere. It doesn't matter, as long as my work contributes to a better society.”
